Dance skill education activities for preschool children play an essential role in their holistic development. As the first level in the education system, early childhood education significantly shapes children’s personality, aesthetic competence, and foundational skills. The Ministry of Education and Training has emphasized the importance of life skills and issued the Standards for the Development of Five-Year-Old Children, comprising six domains, with particular attention to aesthetic competence. However, at the regional and international levels (based on internationally recognized assessment tools), the 2019 assessment results of preschool children’s development in Vietnam showed that in some domains, children did not achieve 50% of the expected scores, and their development level was lower than the global average for children of the same age. In this article, based on clarifying several theoretical issues regarding dance skill education for preschool children, the author proposes measures to improve dance skill education for this age group.
