The paper examines the effects of task-based listening activities on Dong Nai Technology University EFL students' listening abilities. Pretest and post-tests were employed in a quasi-experimental design to evaluate listening comprehension progress. Additionally, semi-structured interviews were conducted to investigate students' opinions regarding task-based listening activities. The findings show that students' listening skills improve significantly after doing task-based activities. Furthermore, students demonstrated favourable attitudes, emphasising improved involvement and motivation. However, issues such as rapid speech and unfamiliar vocabulary were identified. The results indicate that task-based listening activities are an effective instructional method for improving listening ability and student confidence in EFL settings.
