The development of Vietnamese literature has been characterized by a critical and selective absorption of the essence of world literature, with Chinese literature being particularly prominent. The relationship between Chinese and Vietnamese literature is a long-standing cultural interaction that spanned many centuries. Chinese literature has significantly influenced Vietnamese literature early in its history, primarily through adopting Chinese characters and Confucian ideology. This article highlights several influences of Chinese literature on Vietnamese literature, as well as the adaptation and creativity of Vietnamese literature to align with the cultural and historical context of the country.
