The study aimed to develop and validate the quantitative procedure of lead and cadmium in tuberous roots of Rehmannia glutinosa varietes 19 by atomic absorption spectroscopy. Research results show that there is a strong linear correlation between lead and cadmium concentrations with absorbance, with the function form of lead is Y = 0.0138X + 0.1131, r = 0.9998 and the function form of cadmium is Y = 0.1027X - 0.0037, r = 0.9999. The procedure has high specificity, good reproducibility with RSD < 5% and the detection limit for lead LOD = 0.087 ppb, equal to 0.015 ppb for cadmium. Quantitative limit for lead LOQ = 0.290 ppb, for cadmium LOQ = 0.049 ppb. This procedure is suitable for the quantification of lead and cadmium in tuberous roots of Rehmannia glutinosa varietes 19.
