Teaching practicum is a compulsory professional practice component that enables teacher education students to apply theoretical knowledge to practice and develop teaching and classroom management competencies. This study investigates and analyzes the challenges faced by Physics Education students during their practicum in high schools and proposes solutions to improve practicum outcomes. The survey results indicate that students still encounter difficulties related to subject knowledge, communication skills, and handling pedagogical situations. The practicum is typically conducted in the middle of the second semester, when the learning content becomes more demanding, placing pressure on students in lesson preparation and teaching. In addition, the shortage and lack of uniformity in facilities and laboratory equipment at some high schools affect the organization of experimental activities in Physics. Based on these findings, the study proposes solutions to strengthen coordination between teacher education institutions and high schools, enhance students’ professional competencies, and improve support conditions for teaching practicum, thereby contributing to the quality of teacher education.
