This study examines the role of storytelling in enhancing English listening comprehension skills among students at Vo Thi Sau Primary School. Using a case study approach, the research was conducted with 225 students from Grades 3 to 5 to evaluate the impact of integrating storytelling into English lessons on students’ listening comprehension. Grounded in the theoretical framework of Communicative Language Teaching (CLT) and Krashen’s Input Hypothesis, the study adopted a mixed-methods approach, including pre- and post-tests, classroom observations, and student surveys. The findings indicate that storytelling activities significantly improved students’ spoken English comprehension, particularly in vocabulary recognition, understanding of narrative structures, and contextual inference. In addition, students reported that storytelling-based learning activities increased their interest and motivation to participate in class. The study concludes that storytelling not only supports language development but also creates a positive emotional learning environment that facilitates English language acquisition. Accordingly, it recommends that English instruction at the primary level incorporate culturally appropriate and interactive storytelling activities to enhance students’ listening comprehension skills.
