Through measuring the bone density with quantitative ultrasound methods in the Polyclinic Examination Room, Vinh Medical University, Nghe An, the present study examined the bone density and factors related to bone density of 203 postmenopausal women. The results show that 23.2% of menopausal women studied has normal bone density; 51.7% has a decrease in bone density and 25.1% has osteoporosis; the higher the age of postmenopausal women, the bone density decreases, the osteoporosis rate increases (osteoporosis ratio of 42.6% at age 70 or older); the longer the time of menopause, the bone density decreases (8.1% for up to 5 years of postmenopause, 25.7% for 5-10 years of postmenopause and 38.6% for over 10 years of postmenopause).
