In the Middle Ages, historical poetry was considered as a typical composition of Confucian literature in East Asian countries such as China, Japan, Korea, Vietnam, etc. It was initially written in the 13th century and gradually took a significant place in Vietnamese Medieval literature. For the purpose of education, Emperors composed historical poetry as a way to enlighten themselves as well as the courtiers. Latterly, under the change of historical context and society, this type of poetry has experienced a lot of improvements conformably to the era.
