The year 1986 marked an important milestone in Vietnamese society, creating important changes in all fields including literature. The article explores the need to review and re-evaluate life values Vietnamese prose in post-Doi Moi era from perspective of the writer characters system. Viewed from this type of character, it is possible to understand more about the cognitive needs of the authors, namely the writer's need to show their social responsibility, their awareness of the current state of the country, and their search for new art forms. By surveying a number of typical works that build the image of writer characters, the article aims to contribute to affirming the spirit of self-awareness in Vietnamese literature after Doi Moi.
