In order to improve the quality of education and to meet the basic and comprehensive innovation of Vietnamese education, the use of self-study fostering exercises for high school students is necessary and important. Using self-study exercises on “Redox Reaction” helps foster the chemical self-study competency for students towards reforming the teaching method which instructs students how to self-study. By analyzing some examples of self-study exercises and pedagogical experiments on grade 10 students, the design of the exercises has favored students’ development of their chemistry self-study competency.
