Autonomy and self-study is one of the core competencies emphasized by the Ministry of Education and Training to be developed for students in the New General Education Curriculum (2018). It is very necessary to cooperate from both learners, schools and families for effective self-study. Especially, in the context of a volatile world, the way of teaching and learning has been significantly changed, in which the role of self-study is getting more and more attention. The study has investigated the awareness, self-study motivation as well as some problems about the reality of self-study activities of high school students in Rach Gia City, Kien Giang Province, thereby serving as a basis for the educators, educational managers have the direction to improve the efficiency of self-study activities and the quality of students' self-study.
