The article aims to generalize the rationale for linguistic gameplay in teaching English, thereby to conduct a study of perception on game-based English teaching with the involevement of 389 economics-majored students of some public universities in Hanoi. The research results confirm the roles of language games in teaching English, including creating a cheerful learning atmosphere, motivating learning motivation, and creating a favorable environment for communication skill improvement, pronunciation practice, vocabulary development as well as grammar reinforcement for students.
